Archive for March, 2008

I want to post a couple of lists. The one that is more interesting, at least to me, is a list of my cameras. But a list of cameras, of all things, would be wrong without photographs so I will take pictures of them all (7 or 8, I think) and then post the [...]

my photography

21Mar08

I am going to load a bunch of my pictures to a file sharing Web site, MediaFire.
Thus is a temporary measure until I can get my own Website built, mainly to show off my pics but also to show my family history. I’ve got a few pictures on Flickr (who hasn’t?) but I want [...]

I am in a bit of a low spot at the moment with my chronic fatigue. A week ago, I went round my usual walk far too quickly and this has been enough to set me back in what was a spell of improvement from a state of fatigue.
These guys in the [...]

This is one of these pictures which somehow seems to make more sense when it is abstracted a bit, as I have done here.
Being an ardent photographer, I have photographed every grain of sand and each rock up and down the coast an hour’s distance each way. There comes a time when it [...]

A bit of trivia for you – have you ever noticed that in many cartoons people are drawn with only four fingers? Check out the Simpsons for example. Others are the same. I only noticed this a couple of years ago.

I reckon in small cartoon drawing, drawing all the fingers made the [...]

I posted a coupla days ago that I had got my Maxtor OneTouch III working with a download from the Seagate site. And that was so – all seemed well, did a back-up nicely.
Uh oh, not so good news today – I have had problems reading certain files from the Maxtor but the back-up [...]

You can see the price we pay for petrol here in Australia (well, maybe you can’t, it is quite a small picture):
“ULP” [...]

the cheap gear

05Mar08

I was in a supermarket a couple of weeks ago and saw a pack of a camera (re-loadable), 2 films, 2 batteries, all for $10, so I couldn’t resist could I? Especially as I often like the poor (poor? at least, different) quality of these cheap throwaway cameras.
I used a film shooting at whatever [...]

I posted yesterday about software updates now being available for my Wacom tablet for Vista.
Well, when I checked, there is software to update my Maxtor external drive so I downloaded that and installed it and – bingo! – it works nicely now for the first time with Vista.
MS issued a major update for Vista a [...]

I got a new computer at Christmas time with Vista preloaded. Some problems with Vista but I guess they will get the bugs out in time.
One thing that really upset me was that my Wacom Intuos2 graphics pad would not work, either fully or often not at all.
On a whim, I checked – Googled [...]
