Have you all heard of Tom Waits? Tom is a uniquely individual musician with a very distinct style.

“… in a career that now spans four decades and over 20 albums, Tom Waits has long since emerged as an extraordinary innovative force, a singular voice whose music remains determinedly – and even gloriously – well beyond the trivial fads and fashions of popular culture.”

You either like him or you don’t. I do, I have been a fan for ages. And as I like drawing and playing with computers, it is natural that the three should come together – a computer drawing of Tom.

I am using Inkscape, a lovely program to work with. It produces vector drawings that have the advantage of being totally scalable, with no loss of detail however big you make them. The image files are also relatively small (measured in kb). (You can of course export a .png file at any time for general use, the native file format, svg (scalable vector graphic) being not yet universally accepted.)

I am doing this drawing for a book that we hope may be published in a couple of years’ time of the work of those who suffer from chronic fatigue. I’ll post more ofthis drawing as I progress with it – I aim to have it finished this week.

Tom Frost (Waits) is really a genius. And inkscape looks very interesting, it´s worth a try…
